Moyes reveals talks about becoming Celtic gaffer

David Moyes has in the past spoken to Celtic about becoming the manager at Celtic – but didn’t get ‘too serious’.

The former Celtic defender has been linked with a return but as gaffer, especially since he has been manager for teams like Man United, West Ham United, Everton amongst others.

“I think there will be a time when I choose to come back but it’s always difficult in a city like Glasgow.

“I’ve managed in Liverpool and Manchester and it’s tough. Half the city dislikes you and sometimes all the city dislikes you, depending on how you’ve done.”

He does also have interest in managing Scotland, he said: “I’m getting now to a stage in my career where I really enjoy club management and feel I have unfinished business to do yet.

“But I think at the right time, when things are right for me and if it’s right for Scotland, then it might be a consideration.”

But it does appear he may rather manage in the English Premier League over Celtic. As he said to the Daily Record when he joined Sunderland, Moyes said: “I met Celtic and I know the people very well.

“They spoke to me several times before but I had other clubs this summer who met me at the same time.

“I’ve had opportunities to go abroad but I wanted to come back to the Premier League.
