Rod Stewart has hit out at Rangers, saying they are ‘childish’ over their antics and that if it was the other way round he’d be embarrassed by Celtic.
The league is awaiting a conclusion, due to a pandemic sweeping the globe, a majority of clubs have already voted for the season to be over and to declare Celtic as champions, but it remains to be seen whether the SPFL call it.
Celtic are obiously 13 points ahead, and Callum McGregor has said it would need to be a ‘monutmental collapse’ for Celtic to lose the title now.
Rod Stewart has said that Rangers are childish and don’t have any sportsmanship.
Speaking on talkSPORT, he said: “I got a feeling all our boys will want to play because they want to get nine-in-a-row.
“Rangers might not want it but we want it!
“I’ve got to tell you, with all the trouble that’s going on up there, if the shoe was on the other foot and this was Rangers, and Celtic were causing such a fuss, I’d be embarrassed.
“I would want Celtic to give Rangers the league if they were 13 points in front with only eight games to go.
“I think this is such bad sportsmanship, it’s horrid. I really mean that.
“We were 13 points ahead and had a better goal average.
“I think even Steven Gerrard will admit that Celtic, overall this season, were the better team.
“And we could have increased our lead in those last eight games.
“If the shoe was on the other foot, I’d genuinely give Rangers the title and say, come on Celtic, we’re bigger than this, let’s get on to next season.
“That is honestly what I feel from the deepest part of my heart.
“It stinks, it really does. It’s just that old thing, let’s put the story somewhere else and take away from nine-in-a-row.
“It’s childish in my opinion.”
