‘It wasn’t down to my performances’ Bauer opens up on lack of game time at Celtic

Celtic defender Moritz Bauer has opened up about his ‘bitter’ experience at Paradise and firmly believes that Jeremie Frimpong cost him his place, not his form.

He was forced to take a back seat because of Frimpong, who quickly established himself in the squad.

He said: “I don’t want the season to end. It was an exciting experience for me at Celtic, even if it went bitterly for me.

“Losing my place wasn’t down to my performances. I’m 28, only on loan from Stoke and relatively expensive.

“I understand what happened because Celtic are building the experience of a younger player. When the new season starts at Stoke, I now have the chance to get people talking again about me with my performances.

“I certainly dream of playing for Austria again.”
