‘Celtic are worthy champions’ says ex-Celt defender

Celtic are worthy champions of the Scottish Premiership, former Celtic defender and now Brechin City gaffer, Mark Wilson insists.

The City’s manager even accused Rangers of being ‘petty’ with their current accusations about the SPFL and them demanding the suspension of Neil Doncaster and Rod McKenzie down.

He said to The Scottish Sun: “If you’ve got the evidence and its damning, why on earth would you hold on to it?

“Just release it and get on with it. I’m sure things would move a lot quicker without the petty threats.”

And on the title being awarded to Celtic, he said: “I don’t think the title should be classed as tainted.

“The record books will show that there were fewer games played, but if Rangers had won their game in hand and all teams sat on 30 games played, Celtic are worthy champions with a 10 point lead over that amount of games played.”

Meanwhile, UEFA was rumoured to have punished leagues for calling a halt to the procedure early, but now they say they have no problem with leagues outwith the so-called ‘Big Five’ from doing so.

There is a UEFA summit – via video link – of all the leagues on the 23 April 2020, which is when they are excepted to tie up the leagues and crown champions. That will crown Celtic champions and win nine-in-a-row, and also see Hearts relegated unless they can restructure the league.
