Hibernian and St Johnstone are set to fight for Efe Ambrose’s signature.

The former Celtic and Hibs defender is now a free agent since leaving Derby County at the end of last season.

Jack Ross’s side is hoping to bring the defender back to Leith, but face competition from the Saints, having left Hibs in January after two years at the club but didn’t play for the Rams during his spell at the club.

Both teams defensively have been rather poor this season and are in need of a new defender. The Saints conceding 28 goals in 12 games, while Hibs have let in 23 goals in 12 games.
