Steven Gerrard has emphatically said that Colombian striker Alfredo Morelos won’t be leaving Ibrox anytime soon.

The striker was at his best as he bagged a double in the 3-0 win against Hearts to set up a Betfred Cup Final showdown with Celtic.

Despite Morelos giving an interview, saying he is open to a move to a bigger league Gerrard said he won’t go anywhere. The Ibrox gaffer said: “I’m not confident… I’m sure. I’m 100 per cent sure he’s not going anywhere.”

Speaking about the match, he continued: “I felt different mentally, all due respect last year standing there, I knew we were limited in the No.9 position.

“But to stand there with Alfredo Morelos and Jermain Defoe behind me, I felt different and I’m sure the boys did.

“I have to pay my respects to the recruitment, the boys coming in, we are in better shape than we were 12 months ago.

“Having said that, we have to keep improving, keep pushing and get some success into these supporters.”
