Fraser Forster, has joined Celtic on a season long loan.
The keeper has stated he is open to making the loan move more permanent.
Forster, when asked about staying beyond the loan, said: “Yeah, definitely. I’d never, ever rule that out. Obviously I just want to concentrate week-by-week to begin with.
“But if we have a great year, it would come down to the two clubs working it out somehow. This is a fantastic place to play and even when I left I hoped one day I’d come back.
“You want to be here as much as you can, so I definitely wouldn’t rule it out.
“It would be a fantastic thing if that could happen, although that would be out of my hands.”
He added: “I believe the best is still to come. I’m only 31, which is young for a keeper. I’m in my prime, really. I still feel that there’s plenty in the tank.
“You look at what Craig Gordon has come through and he was older then than I am now. He has been excellent.
“So there’s no reason why, if I look after myself, I can’t play on for a good chunk of time yet.
“This was the easiest decision I have ever made. When I heard of Celtic’s interest, I said, ‘Yes, I want to go’.
“The clubs got it sorted and it was an absolute no-brainer for me. I drove all the way up from Southampton.”
