Celtic chief executive Peter Lawwell lands high profile Champions League job

Celtic chief executive Peter Lawwell has landed a very high profile role within the UEFA Champions League in an attempt to reform the tournament.

On Friday 16th of August, saw a meeting of the European Club Association Executive Board, which represents 246 clubs around Europe.

As part of the meeting, the member clubs made clear that the way the Champions League is currently is not serving the interests of the majority of clubs, only those in the top leagues.

The meeting saw Lawwell name amongst four representatives to sit on UEFA’s Strategic Council between 2019-2023.
