Celtic interest in Meling is ‘growing louder’

The Rosenborg star seems a serious option as full back and could solve the problems Celtic have been having of late.

Birger Meling has played against the Celts four times in Europe, and scored an away goal in Celtic’s 3-1 win.

IndexHR have reported that Neil Lennon’s search has been ‘growing louder’ and has stepped up over the past few days.

It has been reported that MLS side Los Angeles FC, have put in a bid for him, but it was rejected by the club.

Rosenborg coach has since admitted that Meling “will probably leave at some point”.

Meling said: “I have ambitions to try something different and hope to do that some day.

“Right now we have terribly important games and we all have full understanding of what the situation is.

“We will see if new opportunities emerge for me eventually, but the timing is difficult right now. I understand this.”

TV2 pundit Jesper Mathisen said: “Meling has been hunted a bit by Celtic. He is a player they know well.”
