Joe Hart is likely going to be De Gea’s number two – with Celtic keeper Craig Gordon also on Manchester United’s shortlist.
As Jose Mourhnio seems to have accepted the fact he’ll lose Sergio Romero.
And Hart who has fell out of favour at Man City, fits the bill as cover for De Gea, as his poor-form at West Ham confirmed his best days are behind him, so too is his World Cup spot.
Now, seeking to turn around his fortunes, Romero has been planning to leave Man Utd after being second choice keeper.
Celtic and Scotland international keeper, Craig Gordon, is also on the list although he is contracted to Celtic for a further two years, 2020.
Last January, though, Gordon was close to moving to Chelsea for a £4million deal.
Celtic knocked back many bids from Chelsea, who were closing in on the Premier League title at the time.
